TYPO3 Workflow - Content Drafts & Approvals
TYPO3 comes with workflow functionality "out of the box". It is highly configurable and we are able to create different types of site editors who can: add content, edit content, review content, publish content, or combinations thereof.
Editors who are able to add but not publish content can see a preview of what the site will look like once their changes have been approved.
Reviewers and publishers have the ability to approve, reject, and edit submitted content. Emails can be configured so that the appropriate person receives an email when their involvement is required.
Below are two videos, one demonstrating the process for "content editor", an admin who has the ability to add or edit content, and the other the process for a "content approver". Note too the limited view of the back end the editor has, they have limited controls in the menu as well as greatly reduced access to the pages of the website (all configurable).
TYPO3 Workflow - The Content Editor
This video demonstrates the process for a content editor to add or edit content on a TYPO3 site and send it to the reviewer for publishing.
Note the greatly reduced view of the interface available to the editor (as opposed to that of the reviewer). This is not part of workflow but an example of the highly granular content controls available in TYPO3. We are able to control the menu items appear, the pages, even which portions of pages are available on a group or user basis.
TYPO3 Workflow - The Content Approver
This video demonstrates the process by which a content approver can review and publish changes submitted by content editors.
The website used in the demonstration is Cosmo Music, The Musical Instrument Superstore, located in Toronto, Ontario.
